SESSION Nº1

What Makes a Successful Online Student?

I agree whit what the entire article says about how to be a successful online student, but I think that the most important thing, when we’re working with e-tools, is to be willing to learn and interact with them, we need time and also to show some interest into the process. We have to be open minded about sharing stuff, concerning with our life, work and educational experiences, because these are going to help us to learn about everyone's mistakes and even ours. Particularly, I think that best way of learning is by experimenting and making our own mistakes.

Strategies for Using Chat as a Communication Tool

Sometimes we don’t want to go to the classroom, because it is so frustrating for us to be sitting opposite the teacher, hearing all what he has to say. This is why working with e-tools is an interesting strategy, because it will turn on the interest of some students about learning, it means, that at the same time they will be getting knowledge about the subject and technology. For me the best of the strategies that we read in the article are: Language Study, Brainstorming Session and Small Group Work, even though the other strategies are very useful.

Using chats in EFL: A tool for collaborative learning

In my case, working with chat rooms is the coolest strategy when we want to practice the way we talk in English, because when we were working with Skype, we had so much fun, that we could even see those classmates that are shy in the classroom, speaking English as fluently as the teacher.

SESSION Nº 2

According to my experiences using emails (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc)

How could we use them into the classroom?

It’s for real that we have to work with e-tools; in fact sometimes we see some teachers’ efforts to work with them, they ask us to send them some activities or homework, or they just send their students an email with all the things that they will be doing during the classes and stuff like that. I think that it will be useful and interesting to apply all this new techniques, in the seek of getting better results

What benefits and shortcomings do you see using emails?

There will be lots of motivation in the student side, because we always are looking for new kind of activities that keep us aware, but the main problem is that some teachers don’t take enough time to tell us how important is to know how to use email and sometimes when we are going to send the homework, we just ask to a friend to do it for us.

What sort of activities would you implement in the subject Modulo de Competencias Comunicativas III with emailing?

Sadly, this subject is a little boring for some of us, but we have to admit that we have learned a lot, thanks to it. I think that it will be better if the teachers let us to be more open about the topic that we are going to be studying during the course; we could make a little project, make an oral presentation and some interviews about what we’ve researched. (I don’t want to be a kiss a.. but this MCC was the best one)

What academic benefits would emailing brings to you?

Emailing is already bringing me lots of benefits; I can communicate easily with some friends who are far away from home and also with those that live near home, we can send any information we need to do any homework and some other stuff. I can say for sure that emails are here for improve our lives.

Do we accept email rules nowadays?

I am not sure, but particularly I do. When I’m on the Internet I just try to enjoy it in the best way. It is really cool to have this alternative and we have to use it in the right way.

SESSION Nº 3

Based on "Engaging Digital Natives" :

Are teachers prepared to incorporating ICT (information communication technology) in ELT (English language teaching)?

I will say yes, but I’m not sure, because in my case, as a student of English education I’ve always working with computers and Internet, thanks to them I’ve got lots of vocabulary and knowledge about English. Some of my classmates are also familiar with all of this, but not all of them. The same thing happens with my teachers, but even though I think they’re already prepare to join us in this adventure.

What do teachers have to do in order to cope with their students using ICT?

Well, we aren’t just students we also are our teacher’s teachers, and if they want cope with us using ICT, they just have to make us part of the process of their learning. They can ask us anything and also some help, in the same way as we ask them. I know that some of our teachers don’t have the time for this, but any minute they have, they should take it in order to improve their skills

I would start implementing the use of blogs into the classroom. I really liked my experience working with them. IT'S REALLY COOL, it’s like making your own web page.

Sure, they would be effective. I’ve seen motivation, interest and lots of awesome blog designs

SESSION 4

What is your opinion about using Blogs?

At first, I have to admit that just the idea of working with blogs, gave me a headache, but it was because I didn’t even want to open an account or maybe take a look at the ones that my classmates had already done, but at the same second I started working with it, I was like amazed about all the wonderful things that I was being capable of doing with that…Come on! I mean…I felt like I was creating my own web page…It was really cool and it’s still cool for me.

What do you find most difficult about blogging?

Well, I really hated when Iwanted to put in certain order the posts about the modules of the "cutting edge" and the page was putting them in the way it wanted to... that was until the teacher told us that if we wanted to do that we needed to change the post date. Even though I could do it the way I wanted, I think that is something that have to be changed so blogs let bloggers be more free abou it

From the other students' blogs, which one you like most? Why

This is an unfair question, because each one of us has put all or part of our time, dedication, work, creativity, imagination and originality in order to have the best blog. So, instead of writing whose blog was the best, I’m going to congrats all my “blogsmates” and also tell them that it was really nice to work with you guys in this short but unique semester. Also thanks to our teacher that guided us to have this experience. You’re a great leader!!!!
